How to Walk Boldly in Faith

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

And in Your book they all were written,

The days fashioned for me,

When as yet there were none of them.

Psalm 139: 16 (NKJV)

Welcome to 2025! Every new year gives us time to reflect and recharge after the holidays. It’s also a time to feel loved and blessed as we recall how God has moved in our lives and envision what lies ahead.

Being my most prominent critic, I have dreamt of throwing out the old and going all in with the new. However, over the years, those much wiser than myself have shown me that for every fresh start, there is a time of letting go, healing, confessing, and contemplating before I can move on.

Sure, I can fool myself, but I’ve discovered great value in making room to confront struggles, remember hard-won insights and achievements, and reflect on how God has worked in and through me and those around me along the way.

In a recent goal-setting masterclass with Donna Kozik, I listed three wins from the past year to celebrate. Next, I needed to determine who or what my North Star would be in the coming months.

I knew in a split second that God had to be in charge of nurturing new hope and growth, or I’d be stuck spinning my wheels as I had done too many times before. Deep in my bones, I want nothing more than to walk boldly in faith, knowing God is right there with me, to see what He has in store for me each day.

Yes, I am far from perfect, and in my human experience, I will falter, but the minute I heard the question, Psalm 139:16 came to mind.

David speaks to God, saying, Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, when there were none of them (Psalm 139:16 NKJV).

You see, God ordained our steps before you and I were created in our mother’s womb. And for me, knowing that God knows me better than I could ever know myself is such a comfort.

Yes, complete trust and surrender are the goals of every Christian’s life. It takes risk and commitment and can feel downright scary. Even C.S. Lewis once said, “The terrible thing, the almost impossible thing, is to hand over your whole self–all your wishes and precautions–to Christ.”

But for me, the joy and the benefits of walking with my Creator are endless.

Instead of the onset of anxiety or worry, I will walk boldly in faith, knowing the One who walks beside me.

Instead of wondering if I can rely on my instincts, I will connect to God and remain rooted in his care.

Instead of counting on hearsay, I will remain strong in His Word and discern how Scripture resonates with my circumstances.

As always, I will continue to be inspired by Faith First Women like you, who provide invaluable support, encouragement, and fresh perspectives from your spiritual journey.

With God’s all-knowing, forever present, limitless knowledge of who we are, you and I know, In him we live, we move, we have our being (Acts 17:28).

Come now, my friend; walking boldly in faith can change everything.

Let’s pray.

O’Lord,

Thank you for drawing me close to you as I boldly embrace your transformative work in my life.

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. Body and soul, I am marvelously made! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you. The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day” (Psalm 139: 13-16 MSG).

I praise you and thank you, sweet Jesus.

Amen.

My friend, thank you for being here.

Until next time…

May the Spirit of God lead you, the Word of God sustain you, and the promises of God grant you the gift of everlasting peace.

With love and prayers.
